Dubai Metro Blue Line: New Traffic Diversions Announced at Ras Al Khor
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new traffic diversions in Ras Al Khor, marking the beginning of construction works for the highly anticipated Dubai Metro Blue Line. The diversions are part of ongoing efforts to facilitate infrastructure development while maintaining traffic flow in one of the city’s key industrial and commercial zones.
Key Traffic Changes in Ras Al Khor
According to the RTA, lanes at intersection A15 and Nad Al Hamar Street have been closed near the Used Car Market. These closures are essential to enable construction activities related to the new metro line.
To minimise disruption, the RTA has implemented parallel lane adjustments on both sides of the existing intersection. These adjustments are designed to maintain smooth vehicle movement and reduce congestion during peak hours. The authority has also released an informational video highlighting the changes and guiding motorists through the revised traffic layout.
Residents and commuters are advised to follow updated traffic signage and plan their journeys in advance to ensure timely arrival at their destinations.
A Major Workforce Driving the Project
Construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line is already well underway, with more than 3,500 workers and engineers currently on site. The RTA confirmed that work is progressing in line with project timelines, with a target completion date set for September 9, 2029 (9.9.2029)—a date chosen to symbolise Dubai’s commitment to future-ready infrastructure.
About the Dubai Metro Blue Line
The Dubai Metro Blue Line is one of the RTA’s most significant strategic transport projects. The new line will:
Span 30 kilometres
Include 14 stations
Connect the Red Line and Green Line of the Dubai Metro
Serve areas expected to accommodate around one million residents by 2040
Once completed, the Blue Line will play a vital role in easing road congestion, supporting urban expansion, and enhancing public transport accessibility across emerging residential and commercial districts.
Supporting Dubai’s Future Growth
The introduction of the Blue Line aligns with Dubai’s long-term urban and mobility strategies, reinforcing the emirate’s focus on sustainable transport, smart city development and improved quality of life. While temporary traffic diversions may cause short-term inconvenience, the long-term benefits of enhanced connectivity and reduced travel times are expected to significantly outweigh these disruptions.
Motorists are encouraged to stay updated through official RTA channels as construction progresses and additional traffic adjustments are introduced.
